My Review of Cat in the Stacks Series, by Author Miranda James

The Cat in the Stacks Series was written by a Mississippian Author who has resided in Texas for long, Miranda James. Dean James has written under his own name and used a few different pseudonyms among which Miranda James is one that he penned down for this recent mystery series that was first publicized in 2010. This book is another addition to his mystery
fiction novels as a new series. This is the author’s expertise and passion, for he has been fond of reading mysteries as a child and started writing on his own even before his teenage years, and used it as an inspiration in creating his first novel, in collaborating with different authors, and leading to his own books and mystery series, altogether becoming popular and widely known for immersing readers in solving mysteries, tracing steps to catching killers and stopping crime.

This novel takes place in Athena, Mississippi, which is centered on Charlie Harris, a good-natured librarian everybody knows along with his cat, an American Longhair or Maine moon named Diesel which he walks on a leash. He has embarked on returning to his hometown to plunge into books only yet to find out that he will be in for mystery solving adventures, surely with the help of his cat. The first book, Murder Past Due, became popular and made its place in the hearts of mystery lovers and all readers alike have been drawn towards curiosity and wanted to keep reading through to the end. It has been up on the New York Times extended bestseller list and stayed for four weeks. It was published in August 2010, followed by the second book entitled Classified as Murder, which was published in May 2011 and has also hit the New York Times list. The third book is out, File M for Murder, and the fourth book, Out of Circulation also reached the bestseller list at number 11. The fifth book in the series The Silence of the Library has been released and this series looks promising and would be followed by more books to come. This series is filled with surprises and new things coming in the way of the endearing duo of Charlie Harris and his cat, faced with peculiar and mysterious things occurring in his hometown and requiring their delightful sleuthing expertise of quick action packed manner of attending to matters at hand. It is bound to be a reader’s favorite detective story built on a series of cozy mysteries and their favorite lovable characters.

Being a mystery fan since he was only ten years old, he wrote his first novel in a very fresh, young age of twelve. However, the only copy has vanished already, but it held the title The Mystery of the Willow Key, which was mostly derived from inspiration from the books of the Nancy Drew series and Trixie Belden. He has become an Agatha-award winning novelist for Best Mystery Non-Fiction since the first book he co-wrote with a fellow librarian, Jean Swanson, back in 1994. The book was named By A Woman’s Hand, and he was also nominated for this on for Best Critical-Biographical work Edgar by the Mystery Writers of America. He and Jean created a second edition two years later, and further collaborated on two other works, Killer Books in 1998 and The Dick Francis Companion in 2003. Dean James has further collaborated and co-authored six mystery works and an anthology from a short story. Another notable work is with Elizabeth Foxwell, which was entitled The Robert B.
