In the second book in the Cat in the Stacks series, the mystery and action continues with the author's unique writing, making characters more endearing to you as you go along with the series. Here, Charlie Harris is tasked a tedious job by the eccentric, aging James Delacorte to do an inventory of his collection of rare books, suspecting that there’s someone stealing from him. It all leads to terror when James found dead and it does not help that he belonged to a creepy, strange family and it’s up to the duo to do their detective work. Diesel the cat lurks in to paw for clues, trying to find what James has suspected stolen books and anything else that would lead them to solving the crime, with extreme carefulness for curiosity kills the cat, and so Charlie must catch the murderer and solve this mystery fast before the killer strikes again.
